What does Taungana do?

Taungana identifies talented high school girls from underserved rural Africa and develops them with knowledge and resources through exposure and access to STEM organisations, careers, role models and education. These young Ambassadors are equipped with entrepreneurial skills to implement community development projects and supported with continued mentorship through practice leaders. This is initiated by the flagship STEM Expo – a one week multi-industry immersion and entrepreneurship residential programme in Johannesburg, South Africa. Outreach events in rural communities catalyse mass STEM awareness while data mined on STEM engagement barriers forms the basis for consultancy and advocacy.

What do we need the funding for?
We are campaigning to raise a total of R 59,600.00 to cover three pivotal costs:

• Travel for the 7 days activities to different industry hosts and venues in Gauteng
• Transport costs to pick up the Ambassadors from their stations of arrival in Jhb and back again at the end of the STEM Expo.
• Lunch, refreshments and snacks for the Ambassadors for the duration of the programme.
• We are also seeking swag-in-kind for the Ambassadors to look their best during the programme (tshirts, tracksuits and stationery).
